This Tuesday, XR Today sat down with Johan De Geyter, the CEO of Irisitick, a global distributor of industrial augmented reality (AR) smart glasses.

The firm is working hard to scale immersive frontline solutions worldwide. The Iristick portfolio includes a variety of models for individual or frontline use.

Irisitick currently sells its G2, G2 Pro, H1, and Visor-EX 01 AR products, providing invaluable AR-ready tools for peer-to-peer information sharing. Additionally, the product lineup brings into consideration hazardous frontline environments with the Iristick Visor solution.

The Belgian firm sells “second-generation” industrial-grade smart products that “offer many benefits.” Benefits include full device-tethering, which enables an Iristick product to use the processing power of a smartphone to ensure total computing capacity for all integrated applications.

The CEO said that using smartphone tethering means that large companies do not “require any additional managing software,” adding that Iritick products “comply to all security standards.”

Real-Time Remote Collaboration

The Iristick portfolio comes bundled with applications to enhance workplace efficiency, collaboration, and communication.

A crucial integrated tool is Microsoft Teams, a widely popular video conferencing solution. Irisitick debuted Teams onto its content ecosystem in May, enabling frontline workers to use the software hands-free with added voice commands, screen, and file sharing.

De Geyter said,

“Now people that use both hands to do their job can access Microsoft Teams and [reach] all their colleagues within the factory, and vice versa. So, if you want to join a call with the back office, there is the possibility to do that through our smart glasses”

The CEO also explained how the Iristick hands-free hardware line-up suits a range of frontline workers, from surgeons to field technicians.

Global Distribution and Increase Efficiency

In April, Iristick secured a distribution partnership with Internet of Things (IoT) hardware vendors Cape Stone, enabling it to scale its product across European regions.

De Geyter added,

“Cape Stone is a well-known European IoT distributor, and we use them to make sure that all our customers in in Europe have direct access to our product portfolio. We will be announcing some more of these distribution partners around the globe [soon]”

The distribution deal also marks Cape Stone’s expansion into the extended reality (XR) marketplace with related technology solutions such as 4G, 5G, and ATEX.

Furthermore, Iristick is dealing with various global technology partners to assist in scaling its ever-growing AR portfolio.

De Geyter continued, stating,

“We already have distribution partners in a few countries. Specifically, the ones that we have with our ISV, our Integrated Solutions Vendors, that provide software for our glasses. They are already present in various European countries and a few in the US”

Johan added that the industry was still experiencing the “early days” of smart glasses adoption and that, in the upcoming years, more companies will adopt immersive applications and products. Currently, firms adopt AR solutions for specific projects and factory use cases, he concluded.
